Depending on the length of stay you have booked with us you might arrive before or depart on different days to the following itinerary. The itinerary below reflects the 3 nights package. Paris is beautiful with plenty to see and do so we recommend extra nights. Optional tours can be arranged.
Friday 1 April, 2022 : Travel to Paris
Make your own arrangements to arrive at our chosen hotel in Paris today. Usually, hotel rooms are ready to check in after 3pm. You can leave your luggage with the hotel and explore your surroundings while you wait for the room to be ready.
Our hotels
We are staying at the Hotel Rochester Champs-Elysée and the Ibis Styles Paris Cadet Lafayette. Both hotels include breakfast after each night’s stay.
What about my race bib collection?
If you have booked your Paris Marathon race entry with us our staff in Paris will collect your race bib in advance of your arrival. This will be given to you at your hotel. There is therefore no necessity to visit the Expo unless you wish to visit in your own time. If you did not book your race entry with us you will need to collect your bib from the expo in Porte de Versailles.
How do I contact Destination Sport Experiences staff during my stay?
Destination Sport Experiences staff with local knowledge of Paris and the race will be available at certain times in the reception area of the Hotel Rochester Champs Elysée. Times and contact numbers will be provided with your final documents and itinerary. If you are staying at Ibis Styles Paris Cadet Lafayette our staff can be contacted telephonically or you are very welcome to visit us at Hotel Rochester Champs Elysée during the given times.
The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy Paris at your leisure.
Saturday 2 April, 2022 : Preparation Day with optional orientation run
After breakfast, Destination Sport Experiences staff invite all our runners to join us for an easy run. The route will take you from Hotel Rochester Champs Elysée to the start and finish area and is not expected to be longer than 5km. Supporters are very welcome to join too.
Race bib collection
If you didn’t collect your bib yesterday, please do so this morning. There is no possibility of bib collection on race day.
The rest of the day and evening is free for you to enjoy Paris at your leisure.
Sunday 3 April, 2022 : The Paris Marathon
This is the day you have trained so hard for!
Early breakfasts are arranged in the hotels.
How do I get to the race start?
If you are staying at the Hotel Rochester Champs Elysée it is approx. 15 minutes’ walk to the race start area on the Champs Elysée.
If you are staying at the Ibis Styles Paris Cadet Lafayette we recommend you buy a ticket in advance and take the trains from Poissonnierre station to George V station via Palais Royal. Journey time approx. 26 minutes. George V is only a few minutes’ walk from the race start.
On arrival at the start please follow the instructions of the race officials.
The 2022 Paris Marathon
The Paris Marathon start is done in waves and it is expected runners will have 5 hours 40 minutes to complete the course and receive a Paris Marathon medal. Times and details will be advised later.
Family and friends who did not enter the marathon?
You can travel by foot or public transport in your own time and pace to support and spectate along the race route. The Destination Sport Experiences staff will be happy to advise.
After the race make your way back to the hotel, freshen up, celebrate…you deserve it!
How do I get to my hotel from the race finish?
If you are staying at the Hotel Rochester Champs Elysée it is approx. 22 minutes’ walk from the race finish area on the Avenue Foch.
If you are staying at the Ibis Styles Paris Cadet Lafayette we recommend you buy a ticket in advance and take the trains from Victor Hugo station to Anvers station. Journey time approx. 32 minutes. Victor Hugo is approx. 5 minutes’ walk from the race finish.
Monday 4 April, 2022 : Departure
Unless you have booked extra nights with us then today, we ask that you check out of your room before 12 noon, and we say thank you for joining us. It’s not goodbye but instead we’ll see you next time as we hope you will join us for another Destination Sport Experience.
